Motorcycle Repair: 2004 Honda VTX Petcock Leak, honda vtx 1300c, fuel leaks

I have a 2004 Honda VTX 1300C that the fuel petcock is leaking through the vacuum hole. I have taking it apart and the diaphragm is cracked. I've ordered new but my question is will it hurt to ride without that vacuum line hooked up? The bike will idle fine without it and it doesn't leak. Thanks

Aaron. The bike will run fine as the vac hose is suppose to open up the petcock so the engine will get fuel. If the hose is off or sucking fuel into the cylinder it may not run the best. If off its like a vac leak running lean. If on it may suck in to much fuel. The other side of this is its not shutting off the fuel when stopped and if the fuel leaks over into the intake it could fill the motor with gas and lock it up or dilute the oil. Shut the gas off when not using the bike and if you can pinch off the vac line when you are running it for now.
