Question
Ive got a yamaha ttr 90 dirt bike and I got it to run but only on choke and it would not run without the choke on and when I would try giving it gas it would bog down so I took the carbeurater apart and cleaned it out and reassembled it back together. I kick started it and it ran fine and i saw a leak in the carbeurater and when I tried to kick start it and it would spit raw gas out of the exhaust pipe and its still doing that. What is wrong?

Answer
Aaron,You were on the right track, the carb jets were plugged and when you cleaned the jets it ran better but the flooat eas not shutting off the gas. It was flooding the intake and filling the motor. Start with cleaning the carb and reset the float.Put the hinge side up and the floatshould hang down. Now tilt the carb back so the float needle just contacts the seat the float should be parallel with the bottom of the top of the carb.If the float is on top and the top of the carb is upside down it will give you a false measurment.Install the carb but you will need to clean the gas out of the crank case also pull the spark plug and make sure the ignition is off and kick the engine over to clean out any residual gas.You may need to smell the oil to see if it has gas in it also. Put in a fresh plug and try it again.
