Question
Is there a more simplified way to measure the height of the carburetor floats. It say's the height should be 7.5 mm from the body to the top of the float but I don't understand about the toung just touching the needle valve.Would there be a measurement with the floats in the down position.

         Thanks

Answer
Jeff, the "standard" for setting adjustable floats is to have the float tang just stop against the end of the spring-loaded tip of the needle, not to compress it.

If you turn the carb rack on edge, the weight of the float is not enough to compress the needle tip, but will swing in against the needle enough to stop it for a measurement.

The float level is established by when the fuel pushes the float up enough to shut off the flow with the needle. Measuring float drop isn't a factor in this carb type.

If the float is adjustable, then set it to specs. If it is non-adjustable, then it is what it is, unless the tip of the needle is worn or has come off (rubber tipped needles).
