Motorcycle Repair: radiator, repair mechanic, radiator cap

Question
hi gary,i'm riding a busa 99 model,i got a problem with my bike temperature,it will overheat if i'm stuck in a traffic jammed, after sending my bike for repair, mechanic change thermostat that will on my fan when temperature hits 93,fan sensor n everything seems fine after repaired,no more overheating but a few days later i went to same mechanic to check a noise coming from my bike,so when he makes my bike running for 10 mins on neutral to check where the noise came from,my temperature is alredy high which means overheated,my bike is in neutral but the neutral light did not appear n i always got tis neutral light problem, when i tried to start my bike n neutral light not flashing,i need to release my side stand up n bring in down, then only the neutral light will flash n then only my bike will start, does tis neutral light affect the bike,ok gary back to my radiator problem, after i told mechanic my bike overheated,he quickly off the bike ignition,i realised my fan also not werking, then i saw some coolant flowing down near the radiator cap,i suppose i came from there, then the mechanic told me i need to change my radiator,i said my radiator is leaking,he pointed to me a small hole on 1 part of the radiator pipe, the only thing that i can see is when i put my hand near the pipe,i could only feel hot air coming out from the radiator,no coolant leaking,he said my coolant is empty n he top up using water but i told him reserve coolant reservoir is full,he did not remove some of the coolant from the reserve coolant reservoir which are already full,i beleive it came from my coolant reservoir when it overheated, the mechanic keep telling me to get it repair but i told him i will come the next day to get it repaired,i let my bike cool for 1 hour, when i tried to start the bike the temperature needle shot to the red zone n i could't start the bike,i waited another 30 min n still the same, temperature needle goes to the red line again, then only i noticed again that my neutral light is not flashing, the same tactic,i hold my bike straight n release my side stnd n when the neutral light flash, temperature needle automatically goes down n i can start my bike, after a few days,i noticed no overheating,i tried let my engine runs for 20 mins but did not overheat,my fan turns on n i make sure that the neutral light is flashing, what could be the problem of my bike?i'm really confused, must i change my radiator?pls help me gary,tq.

Answer
Akbar,You may have two problems, the shifter switch Part#37730-24F00 may not be showing that you are in neutral like its supposed to. The other problem may be a little more touchy there is a temp switch that turns the fan on when the engine reaches a set temp. The switch could be bad or the fan itself could be bad. Drain all the coolant out and start fresh with a new cycle antifreeze called "Engine Ice" it helps keep the engine running cooler even if the fan doesn't come on as the temp increases in the engine. The fan motor and the switch will need to be tested to see if they are defective, start here first.
