Motorcycle Repair: Ranger RZR 800 question, polaris ranger rzr 800, polaris ranger rzr

Question
I saw that you are new to UTV's according to your profile but you are the only one on Allexperts.com that even mentions them.  I have a 2009 Polaris Ranger RZR 800 and today went to start it and it tries to start but doesnt.  It just acts like it is going to start, the rpm's go up and then just dies.  It has a full tank of gas, I have cleaned the air filter, the oil is full, the battery has a full charge.  It acts like it is flooded in a sense.  I also thought that the fuel filter might be plugged but I read that the fuel filter cannot be changed because it is in the fuel tank and you have to replace the full tank.  So do you happen to have any ideas?

Answer
John, You are correct. The fuel pump and strainer are in the tank, the fuel pump may not be pressuring up the fuel system it could also be the fuel pump relay. This little device starts the pump once you turn the key on then lets the pump pressure up and then shuts the pump off untill the engine starts then kicks back on. Check it first before you replace the fuel pump. Yhe part number for the pump is 2521-011 and can cost about $268.00.
