Motorcycle Repair: flood damaged 84 Sportster, good drying, shop man

Question
The shop where my 1984 Sportster was stored got flooded.  The bike sat there halfway submerged for a good 24 hours before the waters receded.  The shop man said that with a good drying out and change of oil and transmission fluid. It'll be OK.  I don't think so.  What do you think?

Thanks

Answer
Water in the motor is not a good thing, but being in there for 24 hours should not hurt anything. It wasnt in there long enough the rust anything. He would need to change the fluids more than once though. If it were me I would change it around 5 times  and then let it run for at least an hour to get the water out.

Good luck and happy riding
Mike
