Motorcycle Repair: 1985 H-D CHECK BALL MIGHT BE STUCK ?, wire coat hanger, wire hanger

Question
Hi Mike

Its me again Ray Monaco.

Got a problem again with start my '85 Electra Glide Classic.

I believe from what I've been told that;CHECK BALL IN OIL PUMP MIGHT BE STUCK ?

No oil is getting up to the topend and making a banging sound.
How can I repair or un-stick this check ball in the oil pump.

Here's what happened:

Due the bike 4yr. layoff not being started. Oil was leaking from the oil breather under the bike.

I thought the engine was ceased. So to test the pistons I got a wire coat hanger and straighten it out and stuck it into the rear
cyclinder as the rear wheel was off the ground.

I cranked the bike and the wire hanger rod moved UP. Showing me that the rear piston was moving. However, my wife yelled from the kitchen that oil was coming out of the oil breather.

But is was the NEW OIL in put into the oil tank. It was OLD DIRTY/BLACK OIL. I believe it was still in the crank case ?

So I stopped cranking it. Had to clean up all the old oil.
Mike what do you think I should do ? ? ?

Got a new battery in her,new oil filter and oil in the tank.

I'll wait you suggestions.
DO you think the engine is CEASED ?

GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER

Answer
How do you know your not getting any oil to the top end? Did you do a pressure test?
The oil coming out of the vent is probably from the bike siting so long. Oil has weeped into the bottom end and when you try to turn it over the oil pump cant pump it back fast enough so it comes out the vent. It doesnt hurt anything and it will stop as soon and the bottom is clear.
