Motorcycle Repair: CB1100RB, special key, oil drain

Hi Jan,
I have a CB1100RB and intend to change out the oil.  The plug is machined out in the centre of the hex to take the sucuring wire.  The hex is too big for a 16mm socket and a bit too small for a 17mm socket.  Did honda have a special key to take the plug out, or do I just go ahead with the 17mm.

Well it should be a 17mm hex, but I have seen some strange things, including standard size tapered plugs in oil drain locations.  I would search around your toolkit until you find one that fits nicely, and give the plug a close inspection when you get it out.  It should not be tapered...  And it should be a fairly fine thread if stock.
