Motorcycle Repair: i got a 82 kawaski kz1100 got problem with elctronic, kz1100, bill silver

i had to hook a switch from the main fuse to the ignition fuse for this motorcycle to start i take the switch out all the lights still come on (the headlight tale light) but it will not start the motor turns over but it don't start the neutral light and the oil light will not come on hut the gauge back lights do the head lights do tell light does come on but when i hook this toggle switch up to the main fuse and the ignition fuse it runs like a champ it starts and all but i take it out nutten happens what could cause this could it be the igniter box i don't know i got this bike and it was wired with this toggle switch and i want to get it like it should be with out the rigging jobs

Mike, I can't be very helpful for you on this question, because it is not a Honda.

Basically, you have to go through the whole harness, looking for bad grounds/connections and replace any damaged switches and components. If the runs, but has poor power under load, it could either be an ignition control box not allowing spark advance or dirty carbs that need cleaning of jets and metering passages.

If the bike runs fine with the jumper switch installed, then the carbs/ignition system is okay, you have a broken wire somewhere in the harness or the ignition switch/connector is damaged.

Check www.bikebandit.com for illustrations of the parts for this bike. Find a good OEM shop manual copy on Ebay and use that to guide your troubleshooting efforts. Having a detailed wiring diagram is most helpful for problems such as this.
