Motorcycle Repair: 6 volt turn indicators, volt bulbs, turn signals

Question
Hi there!!
I have a 6 volt Yamaha Trailmaster cr. 1968. I need to make it street legal by adding turn signals. Most turn signals are 12 volt. Can I simply remove the 12v bulb and replace it with a 6v bulb and save myself a migraine?

Answer
Hi Lene,

Yes, you can install 6 volt bulbs but
do you have a signal switch and 6 volt flasher
installed or what is your plan?

You will need a strong battery to make them
flash properly and your charging system
must be working. It will need a 6 volt
flasher also which was used on quite
a few older Yamahas or you can try
to find a 6 volt flasher used
on older cars and wire that in.

I have tried to upload a diagram of
a simple signal system.
You don't have to add the indicator
light but you will need the rest of
the lights and wiring.
