Motorcycle Repair: electrical, honda magna 750, electronic ignition control

Question
1988 honda magna 750                                       not getting any fire to the coils     everything else seems ok   please help

Answer
Jay, not getting any spark at either coil set is somewhat rare and might indicate a problem with the KILL switch on the right handlebar, ignition switch or the Electronic Ignition control module.

Is the battery fully charged? These ignitions are transistorized, so if the battery voltage drops down below about 11 volts, they start shutting down electronically. If you have had any high voltage spikes, that can damage the electronic control module.. like jump starting the bike from a separate voltage source.

The pulse generator starts the signal sending sequence, but it would be rare for both of the pulse generators to fail at the same time. If both coils have about 1-2 ohm resistance on the primary sides, then all that is really left is the control module, assuming that the KILL switch and ignition switches are both working properly.
