QUESTION: I have a 85 GL1200 Goldwing. When I try to engage the clutch to put in gear nothing happen. I think the cable is broken.

Answer
Mike just to clarify there is no cable. These bikes are notorious for losing the master cylinder pressure. If you get the top off the master cylinder it will probably look like a bad cottage cheese. Thats moisture in the reservior. It can be removed and the lever. The pistion will need to come out, remove the rubber boot and push down the piston and then remove the snap ring.Clean everything with hot water the dry off thoroughly if barrel and piston assembly are dot pitted or damaged reassemble and put back on bike. Fill master with dot 3-4 brake fluid and hook up a vaccum pump to the slave cylinder on the clutch housing and start pullin the new fluid thru. Keep res full so it wont suck air. Pumping the lever only will not work as it will not get all the air out. If the piston assembly is bad the replacement part is # 22886-MB4-305. I hope this helps.
