Motorcycle Repair: charging/discharging, batt cable, regulator rectifier

hi, i have a 06 cbr1000rr last summer i put in a brand new batt and alternator and stator, and ran great, this spring i took it out to get gas and notice that the batt was not charging...so i went out and gotten a new batt, put it in and still was not charging....so a friend said buy a new regulator/rectifier...so i did and now the fuse under the seat pops every time i connect the positive cable...so i disconnect the regulator and i put the batt cable back and it does not pop...please help me i have not road my bike in month and a half....its killing me...and i dont have money to bring it to a dealer i lost my job...stressed out and now i cant ride. thank u for any help...

Hi Jimmy,


Your bike has a fairly simple charging system
so it sounds like your new regulator may
be the wrong one or it is shorted out inside.

You can try disconnecting the yellow stator
wires and see if it still blows
the fuse or not. If it does then
the short is inside the regulator unit.

Check that the green ground wire is not
touching the red battery wire
inside the regulator plug.

If it only blows the fuse when the regulator is
connected then the regulator, stator or
wiring is shorted somewhere.

The stator only has 3 yellow wires.
The regulator usually has a green and a red.
It is possible to get the wrong regulator
or even a faulty new regulator.

I would guess the rectifiers inside the regulator
are shorting the red fuse wire out.
