Motorcycle Repair: V Star 650 loss of electrici, david adamson, road grime

Question
Turning a corner from a stop sign, motor stalled.  Have no power, no spark, no lights, no starter.  Checked battery (13.3 volts), checked all fuses, all good, what is the problem?  Can the batter cable be off so no ground?  Is there a fusible link? Is it the ignition switch, ignition relay, or what?  1203 V-650 Classic.  28000 Classic miles.  Thanks, David Adamson

Answer
Sounds like a simple loss of ground of the cable to the frame. Some time road grime or rust or corrosion can halt the continuity. Pull the cables off battery and clean and the terminals also pull the cable off the ground to the frame and clean the contact area. Also check the positive cable there should be a small red wire with a butt connector coming off the positive end on the battery. This is the main wire that powers the entire bike some times the push connector loses connection from corrosion or gets stretched out and loose . If you have a test light check to make sure there is power up to the switch.
