Motorcycle Repair: carbs, needle valves, firing order

Question
Hi I have a CB750c 1980, I am having probs with the carbs is there an start point for adjustments, like the throttle bodies and the air adjusting for needle Valves? you can hear the carbs are not set right the engine flutters like it is not firing on all cylinders. also what is the firing order for plug wires from coil to the spark plugs. god bless thanks

Answer
This could be tricky. The mixture screws should be seated then backed out about 2-2 1/2 turns the idle speed screw turn until the screw touches the linkage plate then about 1 turn in more.
Once the bike is started start getting it as smooth as you can with the mixture screws. keep the around 1000 rpm. Then set a digital or carb sticks type syncronizer gauge on the vac ports and dial the carbs in. Once they are set readjust the mix screws and the idle to the spec set by the factory and it should run ok.
