Motorcycle Repair: petcock 1994 cbr1000f, fuel petcock, cbr1000f

Hi Gary, here's another question concerning motorcycle---do you know if the fuel petcock is vacumn assisted in order for fuel to flow. I have the petcock out of tank (in the process of cleaning gunk out of it)should I be able to have some liquid flow out of port.So far nothing, thanks again---Greg

Greg the petcock should have 3 positions on,res,pri. The valve is vaccum operated.The on or res  positions on the vale will not let fuel flow through as a safety feature. The prime position will lit fuel through unrestricted. The vaccum helps turn fuel on when running. The fuel is supposed to stop if the bike is shut off or in an accident.
