Motorcycle Repair: 94 fat boy, ac volts, stator

Question
I got a 94 fat boy and if i ride the bike for awhile then shut it off battery is dead. I've checked voltage and running its at 12.6-12.8 volts. when i turn it off its approx 12.2 no lower then 12 volts. If i ride short distances its fine for bout 2 weeks but like i said if i ride all day its done by the end of the day. My battery is new. Regulator? Stator? How can i check so i can be sure? Thanks Rick..

To test the stator unplug the regulator. Check at both pins to ground with a OHM meter. Should be zero OHMs. Next, start the bike. At the stator you whould have about 60 AC volts at 2000 RPM. If the stator passes both tests your regulator is bad, if it fails then the stator is bad.
