Question
While replacing the starter I realized that the replacement starter given to me was the wrong model. I put back in the old starter and put back alternator & clutch cover. Now I cant even kick start it. The kick starter is moving freely but not catching like it should. The chain on starter is correct, What have I done? How can I fix it? Please Help

Honda kickstarter bull
David, either you mis-assembled the parts, forgot to engage the spring properly or the two engagement parts are worn/damaged.

You have to find and use the updated -310- code parts shown below and assemble it correctly.

find and install #1, #3 and put all the part in the places shown. Make sure that the kickstarter spring is installed and wound correctly.

There was an additional bulletin concerning the kickstarter spindle and pinion gear, but that was back in 1968, relating to engines prior to E 1034914.

If your crankcases are damaged where the stopper comes up and stops against the case, then that will need to be fixed, as well.

I will attempt to attach a bulletin page to this message.
