Motorcycle Repair: oil issue, oil tank, money issues

Question
i have a 2001 fatboy with a stock twin camb motor.  it has about 8000 miles on it and was up on a stand sitting for about a year and a half!  DUE TO HOUSE PROJECTS AND MONEY ISSUES! I am changing all the fluids when I noticed the oil tank was dry! I opened the primary to notice it did not drain into there which is a good thing!  I next opened up the drain plug under the bottom of the engine by the crankcase.  I ended up draining about 2 1/2 out of there!  Why wasnt my oil all in the oil tank where I am suppose to drain it from?  Is this from sitting that long?  Should I worry?

Answer
In that time it weeped into the bottom end. It wont hurt anything. There is a check valve in the oil pump and it might have had a speck of dirt on it and let the oil through. Fill the tank and start the bike and you will be fine.
Good luck and happy riding
