Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki C50T Electrical, suzuki c50t, light flicker

Mr Samel,
My 2005 C50T has been sitting for some time.  I jump started it however when I ride it, the bike feels like it looses power then the oil light and gas light flicker and the speedometer drops to zero ...not sure what is going on or if my battery is just out of juice.  After a short ride it completely stalled. I am no mechanic but before I take it to a mechanic wanted to know if it was something as simple as a new battery.  Thanks for your assistance.

Hello Antonio,

The battery condition can definitely
be an issue as these bikes use
transistor ignitions that are
sensitive to power loss.

Even a loose or corroded battery
cable or connection can cause
a power drop like that.

If everything is dead I would check
the battery and the fuses.
Make sure the cables are tight
and not corroded.

Fuel can go bad over a month or two
also and should be replaced.

If the battery checks out okay
and the connections are okay
you may have to run some fuel
conditioner through it like
"Seafoam" or such.

Many times it is loose battery
cables or a battery has gone
bad from sitting too long.
