how can i get more horsepower from a 1980 Honda cb650c can i bore the cylinders get high compression pistons and use a supercharger if you can answer this or give me any suggestions it will be greatly appreciated thank you for your time -------- mike

Answer
Michael... What is your intended purpose for this power increase request?

Drag racing, road racing, Bonneville speed records? Each application requires different design parameters and parts.

What is your budget?

There are a number of things that can raise power, but not a lot of off the shelf parts are still floating around for CB650s that are now 30 years old.

Megacycle makes cams, Flat slide carbs may still be available from Sudco, Wiseco or Arias or other piston manufacturers may have some piston kits. The CB650 design started out as a 500cc Four, so it is probably stretched as about as far as it can go displacement wise.

There used to be Turbo kits for Honda fours, but I think they are all long-gone now.

You will have to do a lot of research on a supercharger kit, to determine if it is a blow through or pressure box configuration.

With all the $$ you would have to spend to improve your bike, you could buy something that is far more advanced in performance and handling already to go.
