Motorcycle Repair: clutch adjustment 1978 shovelhead fxe, clutch adjustment, clutch basket

i installed new clutch kit,pushrod kit also new cable problem now can"t figure how to adjust it to where it don"t try take when at a stop and have a hard time getting into first gear have to kick into second to take off from a dead stop i have book but still can"t figure it out also did away with starter years ago have kick only so can"t get measurement like book explained.

Loosen your cable so you have plenty of slack in it. Now go to the adjuster in the clutch basket. Slowly turn the adjuster inward, until it bottoms out and then back it out about 1/8 a turn. Now go to the cable and adjust it so you have about 1/8 inch play in the clutch handle and your set
