Motorcycle Repair: no fire on 1 and 6, broken wires, coil pickup

Question
I have a 79 CBX which has stopped firing on 1 and 6 (runs on the other four just fine.....).I have changed out that particular coil with no change, and changed out all the plug wires with no change. My question, is it possible the the "brains" (computer) that controls all that could selectively cause one coil to stop functioning correctly?
If so any suggestion to fix without spending much money (ha ha ha ), please?

Answer
Cool, a CBX question!!

Cylinders 1 and 6 share coil, pickup and OKI200 igniters.  I would start by checking the wires going to the coils, they have been known to corrode a little and need to make good contact.  You can switch coils and see if the problem switches too, and check the connections to the igniters under the right sidecover, the igniters themselves are mounted underneath the battery tray, and are also prone to failure.  The pickups are less likely to give trouble, but still check for broken wires etc.  Good luck,  Jan
