Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro GTS mower runs eratic, carburators, carburator

Recently my father gave me his old toro GTS lawnmower model 20622 with 5.5 HP suzuki 4 cycle engine. The mower had a bad coil and I replaced it in addition I rebuild the entire carburator because it had old fuel in it( cleaned all jets and body assembly. Idle screw at 1 turn from stop) Mower has good compression and rotates freely. After this was complete it would start in the choke position and run somewhat eraticly due to the fact that the control flap closest to the engine moves on a spring assembly. When I steady this flap it runs better. As soon as I move the throttle to the run position the mower dies. Any help you can give me to tune this mower correcly is greatly appreciated.

 Hello Al:

 Did you Soak the Carburator in Cleaning Solution Overnight? From your Description it Sounds Like the Varnish from the Gas is Restricting the Main Jet in the Carburator. I have found that an Overnight Soak is Required to Properly Clean the Carburators of this Varnish. Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. Include ALL the Numbers, Please.
