Motorcycle Repair: CHARGING SYSTEM, good shape, charging system

My 1983 Honda will not charge the battery. I have taken the magneto out to ensure there was no rust between the magnets and sanded them down, but still will not charge the battery. The bike sat for @ 5years before I got it and I have recently changed the starter and cylynoid. Any suggestions?????

Your 1983 does not have a 'magneto', it has an alternator.  An alternator needs power to generate power.  Is the battery in good shape?  If so perhaps the connections to the regulator are corroded.  Chack all the connections and wires, and make sure all the fuses are good.  It will help if you buy a manual for the bike.  Good luck,  Jan
