Motorcycle Repair: 83 Honda CB650 electrical, honda cb650, starter solenoid

Question
QUESTION: I turn the key on and no lights, no horn, no starting.  Battery charged, all connections seem okay, no fuse (I see) is blown.  Just acquired bike from friend who needed work done on van.  Bike has sat outside a couple years.

ANSWER: Darryl...

Look carefully at this illustration... not the best, but gives you an idea.

QUESTION: The master fuse looks fine.  I even replaced the battery cables. Still no power.  I had just recently taken out and replaced the ignition switch to have a key made.

Answer
Darryl, Get a cheap test light from the auto parts store, so you can trace the voltage flow, starting with the battery.

If you have a fully charged battery and the fuse link is okay, and all the fuses are good, then the ignition switch base may be loose/broken. There are repair kits for a lot of that series of Hondas on Ebay and elsewhere. EMGO makes a whole switch assembly, as well.
