Motorcycle Repair: 95 600 honda shadow, capible, honda shadow

I am trying to diagnose a electrical issue that may be common.  The regulator is getting hot & shutting the bike down. It will restart after cool down. I have tested the stator, regulator, & battery, the charging system checks out good. What else could it be? Coils, ignition?

One of the biggest problems with components over heating is connections. Make sure your powers and grounds are all clean and tight. Also was the battery load tested? Have it checked at an autoparts store capible of doing so. The battery may have tested good for volts but if it is drawing large amounts of amperage that is a sign of a cell going bad. That can put a large draw on the charging system. Let me know what ya come up with.
