Motorcycle Repair: Clutch on 07 Sporty, barnett clutch, clutch lever

Question
Hello Mike, I have an 07 XL50 (1200) Sporty and it was shifting very hard especially when it warmed up. Also when I have the clutch lever pulled in the bike wants to continue to move, and sometimes it stalls if I don;t give it gas upon releasing the clutch lever.  I have adjusted the clutch cable by loosing the adjuster on the cable then, adjusting the clutch at the primary. (remove spring and lock nut turning counterclockwise till it stops, then clockwise 1/4 turn, then put locknut and spring and cover back on and readjust at the cable with the 1/4 play in lever) I put about 10 miles on it and now it will not come out of second.. I can not get it into neutral.. If this is a clutch problem can you please advise how to replace the clutch and please put in easy to understand words!!! Is there any special tools that I would need too....Do you recommend Barnett clutch parts.. can you advise if both steel plates and kevlar/fiber need to be replaced or can I just replace the kevlar/fiber plates....  Thanks so much Looking forward to the answers so I can get back on the road... Weather is too nice to just stare out the window looking at my baby!!!!

Answer
It sounds more like an adjutment problem. Loosen the cable so there the alot of slack in it. Now go to the adjuster and turn it until it seats then back out just about 1/8 of a turn. Then go to the adjuster on the cable so that you have about 1/8 inch play in the lever.
If this doesnt help let me know
Mike
