Motorcycle Repair: polishing alloy, high speed motor, flap wheel

Question
QUESTION: I am restoring a bsa motorcycle about fifty years old and
I wanted to polish the alloy crankcases, what do you think would be the most effective method?

ANSWER: You would be better off to send them out and get them polished. By the time you buy the high speed motor and polishing wheels and stand you would have spent more money on that stuff than gettng them polished

QUESTION: i HAVE ALL THAT EQUIPMENT BUT NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD IN COMBINATION WITH POLISHING PRODUCT

Answer
You have to start by sanding the metal smooth, using finer and finer sandpaper, until you have a smooth surface with no dings, puts or gouges. The using a ventilated cotton flap wheel with tripoli compound you start to buff the metal. Once you have it all buffedwith that, you  switch to a cotton flannel wheel with white rouge and finish the polishing.
