Motorcycle Repair: charging system, honda magna 750, charging system

I have a honda magna 750(1994) I have bought 2 new batteries and both have went dead while riding the bike it will shut down and when I try to start it again my battery is dead??

Sounds like your chargng system is inoperative.  When the engine is running, the battery voltage should measure up to 14V.  If you rev the engine you should see the voltage go up.  Check all your connectiosn to the engine, and ensure the contacts in all plugs are good and not corroded.  The problem could be with your regulator, or alternator.  If you have a manual there are some checks you can do fairly easily, such as some continuity measurements etc.  But unitl you have doen some checks, don't buy anymore new batteries, that will not fix your problem  Charge the battery up with a slow-charger to bring it back to life.  Good luck,  Jan
