Motorcycle Repair: clutch sticking, clutch cable, clutch

Question
i replaced the clutch cable on my 1976 gl.1000 and adjusted at the bars and at the case. clutch still wont dis engage.if i need to replace clutch? is there a diagram to do this.and how many plates must be in this. i am a newbie at this.i need all the help i can get.

Answer
If you bought the right cable, and have made the adjustments correctly, the clutch should be disengaging just fine.  Was it working before you exchanged the cable?  If the clutch is worn, it will disengage just fine but slip when you try to put power to the wheels.  Your problem is the other way around so it could be wrong cable, or assembly fault.  Do you have a correct manual?
