Motorcycle Repair: trhottle cable, assembley, throttle cable

QUESTION: I have a 1966 harley Duoglide and the trhottle cable broke. How do I replace it.Do I have to take tanks off etc. ?

ANSWER: Do you have to internal throttle cable that is inside the handlebar? Is it a solid cable? What carb are you running?

QUESTION: It is an external single cable on an S&S

You will have to remove the carb. Loosen the adjuster for the cable and remove the cable from the carb. Next, remove the cover on teh twistgrip and you will see the old cable inside. remove it and unscrew the cable from the throttle assembley and install the new one.
