Motorcycle Repair: tapping hot, hydraulic lifters, hi mike

QUESTION: HI MIKE, have an 1981 flt redone top end new pistons .010 over new valves ,guides rockers and shafts and shimmed to 010 ths, new hydraulic lifters, and still have a loud valve tap hot, adjusted the valves several times as per your answer to another person. tried a second set of lifters thinking I got a bad one same thing,any thoughts on this and how much tighter can I go on the pushrod adjustment before it gets dangerous

ANSWER: Is it only doing it when its hot? When its hot, how hot is the outside temp?

Answer
Since you changed the lifters and that didnt help I would try adjusting the pushrods looser and let them pump up. If that doesnt solve the problem then you need to recheck your work. You may have a rocker the is too loose on the shaft.
