Motorcycle Repair: I need help, dyna jet carb kit, intake leak

QUESTION: I purchased a 2004 HD XL883 new and been having carb problems ever since.  It is stock.  Bike pops and it is hard to start without choking when hot.  It seems to be running rich.  Is there a solution to this problem

ANSWER: pull the plugs and let me know what color they are. Also, have you made any modification to the bike, like exhaust, cam ect?

QUESTION: No modifications were made.  The plugs are dark black.

First, you need to make sure its a carb problem. You need to do a OHMs test on the coil and plug wires to make sure they are good.
If they pass, you need to make sure that you dont have a intake leak or a exhaust leak. If that is ok, then you need to pull the carb and, if it were me, install a dyna-jet carb kit.
