Motorcycle Repair: 1979 flh inner primary, shaft bearing, wheel cylinder

Question
Mike, I finally got the bike apart, checked the trans shaft with a dial indicator, and it's straight. Is there anyway I can tighten up the main shaft bearing bore without sleeving it? I was thinking about a 2-part epoxy. I already hit the bore with a wheel cylinder hone to true it up again, and I have around .0035 of clearance between the bore and the bearing. Do you know what the press fit is suppose to be on this? I was also thinking of wrapping the bore with thick shim stock and press in the bearing. Do you think either of these will work, or is sleeving it the only way to remedy it? Thanks - AL

Answer
Are you refering to the bearing that 4th gear rides on or the bearing that is at the other end of the main shaft? If you can, go to v-twin manufactring catalog on the net. Go to page 492 and you will see a view of the mainshaft. Then you can gove me the part number of the bearing you are refering to.
