Motorcycle Repair: HOOKING UP BLINKERS ON A 1974 HARLEY SPORTSTER 1000CC, harley sportster, low beam

Question
I BOUGHT A 1974 HARLEY SPORTSTER 1000CC,THE OWNER BEFORE ME STARTED HOOKING BLINKER LIGHTS UP AND NEVER FINISHED,THEY REPLACED ORIGINAL HAND CONTROLS WITH NEW AND IT ONLY HAS LOW BEAM FOR HEADLIGHT AND WHEN YOU PUT SWITCH TO RUN ENGINE IT WILL START BUT WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON TO KILL MOTOR IT DOESNT WORK I HAVE TO SHUT IT DOWN TURNING THE KEY OFF,NOW IT NEVER HAD BLINKERS BEFORE AND THE NEW HAND CONTROLS HAVE BUTTONS FOR BLINKERS,HOW WOULD I GO ABOUT HOOKING THEM UP AND FIXING THE HIGH BEAM AND GET THE KILL SWITCH TO WORK,I HAVE A MANUAL ON THE WAY SCHOULD BE HERE SHORTLEY,YOUR HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

Answer
It sounds like to need to rewire the handlebars since you have so many problems. If you only have low beam then either you have no power going to the high beam or the bulb is burned out.
As to the kill switch, same thing. You need to check the wiring. You should only have power going to the coil when the switch is on.
To connect the turn signals you go from power, to flasher, to switch to lights.
Good luck and happy riding
