Is it comin to have difficulty shifting from first gear to neutral. If not what should I do?

Sometimes it can be. There is a very small space on the shifter drum where netural is and it can be tough to hit with the trans spinning. You never told me how many miles you have on the bike, but since its a 98, the drum might be worn and needs replaced.
You can try using a different brand of oil and going to a synthetic.
