Motorcycle Repair: 1985 nighthawk 700sc, honda cb700sc, rubber hoses

Question
I need help with draining the tank and the carb to remove whatever they used to sabatage my car from the Honda. I don't want to risk starting her. Also the 2 lines that are up front (black rubber hoses ?) were cut. Any info on how to do it myself would be invaluable. I can't afford a pro mech.or a $40 repair manual.  Thanks

Answer

There is a large fuel line and a small vacuum line that goes to the petcock. You will have to remove the fuel tank, after you pull the seat and side covers, then drain it into a safe container. Then, remove the petcock and clean the screen that is stuck up inside the fuel tank fitting.

If you didn't run the engine, then the carbs should be okay. The petcock only feeds the carburetors when the engine is running.

Make sure your oil level is full and there are no signs of someone putting grit into the oil filler.

Hope this helps you out.
