Question
hi Mike; Ive got a 97 flsts 27,000 mis. all service on time. weekend ride up 160 mis. started back noticed small vibration @ 40 mph quit no problem. 10 mis out again @ 55-60 lasted 1 or 2 seconds. rest of ride uneventful. checked tire pressure good. looked for obvious missing rubber, bent rim, nothing. checked nuts, all tight. got home up on jack. checked for loose spokes, bent rim, no. spin true, yes. missing wheel weights,no. bearing loose,no. h/bar  bushings,ok upper steering head bearing full of grease & tight. is lower bearing my next move, what would you suggest. this is only noticeable with light grip on bars.   THX Jake

Answer
couple of things to check. You can lean the bike over on the kickstand so the front tire is off the ground and have somebody pull the front wheel inline with the bike and see it there is any play. If there is then the steering bearings are bad.
Next, spin the front wheel and running your hand n it lightly. Does it feel smooth? If you have alot of miles on it it might have worn funny and is causing the problem. Evine though it looks good if might have some bumpy wear in it.
Lastly, you never said how many miles are on the bike, but being a 97 the bushings in the front forks might be worn.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
