Motorcycle Repair: Valve guide seals, oil smoke, valve guide

Question
I have a 95 electra glide. It has started puffing oil smoke out of the left exhaust at start up.  I figure that it is the valve guide seals.  Do I have to pull the engine to perform this.

You smoke can either be the valve guides or the pistons. You would have to pull the heads and remove the valves to change the guides. You would have to remove the cylinders to mic the cylinders to see if its the pistons
