Motorcycle Repair: Honda CB 500 T - 1975 oil in Generator?, honda cb 500, throttle cables

Question
QUESTION: Hi
When removing the 3 screws that holds the cover with Honda logo on (not the entire crankcase cover :) )  at the left side of engine oil is almost pouring out . Wanted to check timing and see the index marks at the generator . The stator looks like wet of oil. Is that really so ? when checking index marks in order to adjust the timing you have to calculate with a serious oil spill at the floor through this cover ?

Answer
Whilt this is not a bike I normally work on, you can check the throttle cables making sure they actuate properly.  It is more likely that the jets in the carbs are dirty and stop the fuel from being delivered as cleanly and efficiently as it should.  Also make sure you check the air filter, so that the engine breathes correctly.
