Motorcycle Repair: 2003 VZ800 Suzuki Marauder throttle problem, suzuki marauder vz800, 2003 suzuki marauder

Question
Hi-

I have a 2003 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 that recently fell over. After this happened, it started up fine after choking it and idled fine, but when trying to roll on the throttle it would die. Do you know what this might be?

Thanks,
Jason

Answer
Jason, not really my bike brand, but does it rev up with choke on any better or not?

Some bikes have a tip-over switch that kills the ignition when the bikes go down, but mostly those are on FI bikes of later models. If yours still has a carburetor, there could have been debris in the bottom of the float bowl that got stirred up when it went over and then got caught in the main jet circuit.

If the bike went down on the left side, there is a sidestand cutoff switch that might have been dislodged or damaged causing intermittent connections when engine vibrations shake the connections. That switch will cut off the ignition when the bike is put into gear, though.

If it starts and idles, it sounds like a fuel delivery issue.
