Motorcycle Repair: fork oil, vacuum pumps, fork oil

Question
Dear Expert,  I have a 04 Heritage Classic.  The fork oil was done at approx 20,000 miles , and it is due again.  I have been reading about all kinds of ways to do this, but it seems that no two people agree on what is the correct way.  They speak of vacuum pumps and totally removing the forks.  I do have a service manual, and in there they do give a pretty detailed explanation of the procedure.  My question i guess is what do you propose is what do you do in your shop.
Also any tips that you may have would be most appreciated.
 Thanks
 Gary
P.S.   The first oil was done at the dealer.  I do all routine maintenance on this bike.

Answer
There are two ways to do your fork oil change. Both, you jack the bike up, or do one fork at a time. Drain the fork oil out. the difference is if you can get to the cap on top of the fork. If you can remove the cap then remove it and pour the new oil in and then do the other one. If you cant then you have to go to where you put air into the forks and using a vaccumn pump, suck the oil through the drain and put the plug back in.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
