Motorcycle Repair: 2001 yamaha xt225, valve stem seals, yamaha xt225

Question
it is so cold blooded i have a time starting it unless its really worm outside, is there any way i can fix this?

Answer
Vern, I am not a Yamaha specialist, but in general bikes that are hard to start are suffering from:

Fouled spark plug
Bad spark plug cap
Choke not functioning properly or adjusted correctly.
Valves not adjusted to specs. Tight valves reduce compression.
Carburetor pilot jets plugged up with old fuel
OLD FUEL.. use stabilizer if the bike is not run every 2 weeks or more.
Idle mixture screws need to be richened up about 1/4 to 1/2 turns. (requires removal of the blocking plug to the adjustment screw, which violates the EPA settings).
Ignition timing incorrect... usually electronically set and not adjustable.

You didn't mention the mileage, compression readings or general state of tune and engine condition, so there could be more issues at hand, if the motor is worn out due to ring wear, valve leakage and/or valve stem seals drooling oil down the valve stems.
