Motorcycle Repair: lower fork sliders, allen bolt, harley street

hi mike,i own a 2009 harley street bob and i want to remove the lower sliders for powder coating,how do i remove them and will i need new seals,oil,ect.and/or special tools,thanks so much

You have to jack up the bike and drain the fork oil. Remove the front wheel, caliber and fender. At the bottom of the for there is a allen bolt,. Remove it and then remove the top cap of the fork. The lower will slide off. You will have to replace the fork oil and seals in the lowers. You will need a fork seal install tool.
