Motorcycle Repair: wrist pin, head gasket, wrist pin

Question
QUESTION: Hi mike hope you can give some info. I have 1986 heritage 1340, it started makeing a noise in the valve train, only the rear cyl. so I did a top end job , heads was were redone, 10:1 piston,{.005} new lifters, new push rods {adjustable} new rocker arms, but I did not replace wrist pin bushing. Still have a noise, after listening with a mech. stethosope the noise is loudest between push rods just below head gasket, I think it may be wrist pin bushing. Now to my question, after installing new bushings,do they always have to be reamed and lapped to fit,as this would cause me to buy 3 tools, and might be cheaper to let a shop do it. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

ANSWER: When do you hear the noise, more at idle or when reving it up?
Mike

QUESTION: Hi mike , I dont hear it at idle, when I rev it is when I hear it and some noise when the rpms are coming down off a rev. I know its hard to diagnosis a noise without actually hearing it,any suggestion would help greatly at this point.

Answer
i would check to make sure its is a wrist pin that is making your noise. You never said if you check for play in your rods while you had the top end apart as well as checking the cam bearing.
If you do find its a wrist pin, then it does have to be reamed and lapped. You are right, it would probably be cheaper to have a shop do it
Good luck and happy riding
