Motorcycle Repair: crankcase breather location, harley davidson motorcycle, harley davidson fxdx

Question
Bill, wheres is the crankcase breather loctated on a 2000 harley davidson FXDX super glide sport? is it the candycane shaped tube that come out the top of the motor beside the primary cover??

Answer
Well, Mario.. MrHonda doesn't know a lot about H-D brand motorcycles, engines or components.

I went here:http://www.bikebandit.com/2000-harley-davidson-motorcycle-fxsts/o/m1541 and put "breather" in FIND box and came up with some references to the air filter and crankcase, but they didn't make a lot of sense to me.

If you have a open ended vent tube next to the primary cover, it is probably a vent for the primary/transmission. Normally crankcase vent tubing comes from the head or engine cases and it corrals the blow-by fumes for rerouting to the air cleaner for a reburn cycle.

That's all I can say about that....
