Motorcycle Repair: wont start, starter switch, test light

Have 07 classic. When I go to start it sometimes it will not start. when push start button nothing. doesn't matter if in gear or not. I have found by putting it in gear and rocking the bike I can get it to start. Bike runs fine then

When you try it start it and it doesnt start, check at the coil with a test light. Do you have power at the hot side? Check at the starter switch, do you hae power going to the switch and when you push the button do you have power going to the starter?
