Motorcycle Repair: overheating, blown head gasket, coolant line

QUESTION: i just got my cbr 1000rr out of the shop for overheating, i had spark plugs one of the coils for the spark plugs replaced. i had a fracture in my coolant line that was replaced. upon getting it back i accelerated up to 105 going up hill. my girlfriend said that there was a mist of green that hit her windshield. i'm now overheating again. up to 266 degrees. and my bike is covered in coolant. i'm guessing that i have another rupture. but why would i have another rupture? thank you so much!!!!!

ANSWER: I would imagine you have a blown head gasket.  This pressurises the system to very high pressures and will keep on blowing things in the coolant circuit.  I hate to say it but I think you have a major engine job coming up.  The head gasket is the most likely and the cheapest; if you're really unlucky you may have cracked a head or a cylinder.
I would suspect the cylinder that you needed the plug replaced in.  To confirm this you can take out the plug, pump up the coolant system, and check for coolant coming into the cylinder.  Also check the oil and make sure it doesn't look milky with water contamination.

QUESTION: so i filled it up with coolant again, to the point of overflowing because i couldn't see what was full, don't have the tools to take the fairings off. well it started to push coolant out a  valve near the underside of my bike, it doesn't have a cover or a plug i'm guessing it's like an over flow valve or something. i then rode it around for about 20 minutes not going over 50. i stopped on side of road to just observe and it began to pour the coolant out again. i rode it home and watched it for another 10 minutes and it really poured out coolant. the previous times were 2-3 second streams and it would stop. this was like a full on dump.

So what part of my previous answer was unclear?  This is not something that will go away if you 'nurse' the bike or ride it slowly.  The engine is pumping up your coolant system, and it will overheat every time you ride it any distance.  You need to start diagnosing the engine by checking the plugs and possibly doing a compression check.  If the leak is bad enough the bike will lose compression on the faulty cylinder.  If you do not have the tools to take off the fairing, then you will not be able to do any of this, but do realize that the further you ride this bike as it is now, the more damage you are likely to do.  Unfortunately this will likely be a large repair bill.   Good luck,  Jan
