Motorcycle Repair: shovel head, air fuel mixture, shovel head

Question
what jetting sould be used on e shorty s&s carb for 3    5/8"by 4 1/4" stroke drag pipes?

Answer
There is no certain jet, its what works with your bike and your setup.
Start by turning off the pumper. When setting the jets it will give you false reading. Start the bike  and let it warm up. Adjust the air/fuel mixture by slowly turning hte screw inward, just until the bike stumbles then out about 1/4 of a turn. Now go for a ride, keeping the bike under 2500 RPM. What you are doing is setting the intermediate jet.Slowly go through the gears. If it pops throught he exhaust, then youa re to lean. If it bogs then you are to rich. Change the jet if it not right and make sure you readjust the air/fuel mixture each time you change jets. Once you have the intermediate set, not go to the main. Do the same thing, but go over 2500 RPM and make changes if needed. Once you have the jets set open the pumper about 1 1/2 turns and go for a ride. You want the pumper closed as far a possible without the bike stumbling between gears or when you get on it and your good to go
Good luck and happy riding
